After Christmas, Christmas

The day after Christmas Kevin's grandparents took a lot of the family down to Salt lake. We stayed in a hotel, walked around temple square, tied blankets for primary children's, played games and had a good time with everyone there.  On Sunday after church we drove down to Salt lake with Karen and Rob got to the hotel and ate some food then we decided to walk over to temple square. Its always so beautiful all year round but especially at Christmas time.

The next day we got up and decided to hit a few stores. first stop IKEA! who doesn't love this place?  We found a few great things, as always. Kevin and I got a new side table for our front room and a coffee table too.  We really needed the side table because the lamp we have is so huge that it took up almost the whole original side table. Then we went to vf outlet in draper and found Kevin a cute pair of jeans. Then we stopped in Salt lake and saw Karen's parents. it's always so fun to see them and catch up. After that we stopped at Nordstrom Rack and were again spoiled! It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun.
Here's my cute little handy man putting together our table!

And our new side table which I already love.

Christmas time!

Setting up our first Christmas tree! thanks Karen and Rob!

Decorating sugar cookies!

This was just before we went to see pickleville playhouse put on their Christmas show. It was so fun and cute.

Kevin in his cute shirt. Thanks oma!
And his other cute sweater, thanks mom and dad!

Maybe a month or so ago i went out to visit my oma and opa. Oma and I had a good shopping day and she had told me that she had been searching for the perfect red purse forever and hadn't found it yet. I told her how much I would love to have a red purse and she remembered! It was a great surprise to open! Another great gift was that we got a new TV! When we got married we got a little 19 inch tv with our bed so we were practically squinting when we watched movies so for Christmas Karen and Rob were so kind to upgrade us and we have thoroughly enjoyed it a few times already. It was a great first Christmas together and I'm looking forward to what the new year brings us!

Finally an update

So here's a little bit of what we've been up to this last month! First off for our three month anniversary we decided to have a sleep-over in the front room so we pulled the mattress out and watched a movie it was a fun little date night for us. so that's the picture above
One day i came home from work and it had been snowing/raining all day long and i pulled up and Kevin got out of his car and looked like this apparently on his way to his car he slipped on his way down the hill and slid all the way down, broke his backpack and got soaking wet. oops!
A little after that we were off to Denver for Thanksgiving time. It was so much fun to see my family, it had been since my wedding since i had seen them all together so it was fun to be there with everyone!
We did lots of cooking, lots of eating, and lots of shopping it was so much fun.  Here's part of my family at the Cherry Creek Mall they have the "real" Santa Clause there and do this huge display every year. This year they did Narnia and had this huge snow globe thing that was actually snowing inside. so much fun!

Here's a picture of my sister and i in front of the narnia castle...

When we came home it was time to get ready for Christmas and decorate the house, i feel like Christmas is so much more fun when you have your own place to decorate! I don't have any pictures but maybe I'll get some of the two of us with our Christmas tree and then I'll have to post them.

I can't believe that Christmas is less than a week away!  I feel like December just flew by! I have a few last minute things to get ready and then we're all ready for Christmas.  Maybe someday I'll be better and blogging and not wait a month and a half between every post.

Here's a picture of us at our ward Christmas party in our matching green sweaters.

3 Months!

Today marks the day of our three month anniversary! I can't believe how much has changed in a short three months, how much better we know each other as individuals and as a couple, how much fun we have together in our little apartment.  Some days I look at it and think that we have been married for so much longer because there is no way I could know one person as well as I do in so little time. Other times I look at it and think I can't believe we've been married for three months already I feel like we just came out of the temple yesterday!

What a great three months it has been and I look forward to the months and years ahead, love you kev!

Tender Mercies

Lately, Kevin and I have been talking about all the tender mercies we have received since we have been married, we truly are so blessed! This past week in particular I have been witnessing some great tender mercies and it has strengthened my testimony as I have realized even more this week that someone really is watching out for us no matter what our situation is.  He knows our needs and the desires of our hearts.  He knows the struggles we face daily and the joy we also experience daily.

Maybe I am recognizing this just because it is November and this month makes me focus on the blessings in my life but maybe it's because I have been so blessed these past few months with so many different things that I am overcome with awe almost everyday.  A comforting feeling that everything will work out alright with plans in the future, a little bit of overtime at work, a perfect stranger lending money to someone in need, a family brought closer together through love and support, a caring husband whose shoulder i can cry on and laugh with, the Internet at our apartment, food on the table, a warm house, working cars, the list goes on and on.  I look at my life and think that so many things shouldn't work, so many things should be going wrong right now.  But at the end of the day everything is okay, I know that He cares for me, my family, and every other individual person out there.

CRAZY!

Last week was probably one of the craziest weeks ever! Kevin had two dental school interviews so on tuesday he flew to Wisconsin had his interview Wednesday and flew back into Salt Lake that night, so because I'd spent the first night alone in our apartment since we'd been married and figured out I didn't like it so much I drove out to see him. Then the next morning he flew to Phoenix and came back late that night. It was a little lonely coming home to an empty house every night so it was good to have him back.  Then it was homecoming week for USU so work was crazy trying to get ready for the big game.

Ryan, Tara, and Will came to visit from California.  It was fun to have them here, we miss having them so close.  Tim and Melissa and their cute boys also came to visit from Pocatello so it was fun to have everyone together at least for a few minutes.
Here are some new pics!

The Open House in Denver the week after we got marred. It looked so cute!

Life as we know it

okay, I know... five posts in one day is a lot! But for some reason my computer does better when I add my pictures in a completely separate post.  But anyway, on with our story.  After our wedding day we stayed in Logan, got a few things around the house put together and had a fun week to ourselves then we headed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico! we had a blast. It was so much fun and the week flew by.  When we got back Kevin started school and I went back to work and that is where we are today.  We love being married!  Kevin goes to school, like I said and is taking 18 credit hours! so it doesn't leave a lot of extra time in the day.  He also tutors a few people and works for our landlord doing odd jobs.  I work at Locker 42 and the Logo shop, it's all one company and am there most days except Sunday and most Thursdays from 10-6.  It is a great job and I love it there.  Thursdays are our day together and we love them!  Lately our new thing lately is watching the show House, we can't get enough!

After two months I feel like our house is in order. Although, Kevin does say I always rearrange the kitchen so he never knows where anything is but sorry I can't help it, it is something I got from my mom.  I have loved cooking, which was a little surprising to me because I didn't think I would be good at it but it turns out that it's not that hard!  the hardest part is just planning what to cook! So if you have any good recipes, send them my way!

Last week we had our first house guests!  My mom, sister and my brother Konner came to visit for a few days.  My mom is doing her student teaching at the school my sister goes to so they were on fall break and came to visit it was so fun to have them.  We played taboo, talked, laughed, made cookies and rolls and just had fun spending time together.  Klaire, my sister, and I made cookies that looked like candy corns they were fun to make and yummy.

This week Kevin has two dental school interview tomorrow and Marquette University in Wisconsin and Thursday in Arizona at ASDOH! We're excited to see what happens and where life takes us in the next year.  We'll keep you updated!

Lots of Posts

Kevin's plan after he finished school in the Spring is to go to dental school and this week he has two interviews! I'm so excited, but because he will be gone for the next three days I have lots of time on my hands... so plenty of time to figure out this blogging thing, right?

So the next part of our story would be our WEDDING DAY!  After a long summer of being apart from each other August 13 finally came!  The week before we had finished moving everything into the apartment, and even moved most of Kevin’s stuff in too, a little weird sharing a house with a boy for the first time but we’ve adjusted well.  This year, the 13th of August happened to fall on Friday so yes, we did get married on
Friday the 13th. But it’s okay, we’re not superstitious.  My family came to town on Wednesday night and then Thursday we got the final touches in order during the day and that night I went through the temple for the first time.  After that we had dinner with our families at Firehouse.  Then it was time to go home and go to bed.  After laying in bed for a while I finally fell asleep feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve.  I was so excited for the next day.  On Friday I woke up, got my hair and makeup done and then had some time to kill before Kevin picked me up.  That is when the butterflies started to come.  When the doorbell finally rang it was ready or not here we go but on the way to the temple everything was okay, I was with the person I wanted to be with most and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him!

After the ceremony, pictures began!

Coming out of the temple!

Coors Field in Denver, the night before we got engaged!

I love this picture. I can't remember if it was before of after we got married but we were at his parents house for Sunday dinner and fell asleep on the couch.

This is the canyon right by Kevin's house. So pretty.

We went four wheeling with his parents the week after we were married up to Inspiration Point, it was so pretty and so much fun.

Pictures!

One of our first dates, we went to the driving range

I went to Moab with his parents just after we started dating. It was such a fun trip and what Kevin says sealed the deal of wanting to marry me. Good thing i went!

Propsal!

Okay so there aren’t any pictures yet but don’t worry they will come, probably in a completely different post but I thought I would continue our story.  The Proposal- First of all we had been talking seriously about marriage since like 2 to 3 weeks after we started dating but we just kept talking about it.  One day he came over to my apartment and I was like okay, something has to be done about this!  So while we were chatting marriage came up, like usual. And I was like okay, listen we can talk and talk about marriage but if it’s going to happen then we just need to make it happen!  So that was just the little push he needed and things really got serious.  We talked about fall break because August was just way TOO close.   Good thing we didn’t end up waiting! (Thanks mostly to his parents!)  A few week s later we went ring shopping!! It was so much fun.  We decided to have my ring designed but the only catch was that my birthday was the next weekend and so he needed the ring fast.  Luckily the guy who designed it made it work.  For my birthday he had planned to surprise me and fly me home for my birthday but he didn’t know how intuitive I was and I knew he was taking me home… how sweet!  So on Saturday he showed up to my work with a present in his hands that had double stuffed Oreos and a tin of nuts.  Attached was a note that said “Because I’m NUTS for you DOUBLE STUFF your bags we’re going to Denver for the weekend!” I was so excited! Because I’d already known we were leaving I had pretty much packed the night before and just had a few more things to throw in and then we were on our way to the airport.  PS I tried to act surprised when he showed up at my work but I’m a TERRIBLE liar so he knew that I knew. But it was still the greatest birthday present.
When we got to Denver we spent lots of time with my family and then we were off to bed. The next morning the boys went to play basketball and my mom and I went for a walk.  Then that night we went downtown to a rockies game which was FREEZING! So we didn’t stay the whole time but afterwards walked around downtown and then just called it a night and went home to bed.  The next day was Sunday and also my birthday.  The day before he had asked me if I would take him up to a place called High Point that looks out over all of the city but I had never been there before so there is a spot above the high school that is pretty similar just not quite the hike so I told him I’d take him there.  So on Sunday when I got up that’s where we went and he brought a box which he said was my birthday present.  So when we got up there I open it and it was a book, with a picture of us on the cover.  The book is SO cute and creative; it had tons of pictures of us and a little poem underneath so I figured I knew what was coming at the end so I flew through the pages.  At the end he got down on his knee!  It was such a great day.  On Monday we had Engagements and then Tuesday we flew home!  It was a fun trip and fun to show Kevin a little bit of where I grew up.  Later that week he left for Elko, Nevada where he spent all of the summer before we got married.  We only got to see each other on weekends but it was worth it now because I am married to the most wonderful person. He is so good to me and I could not ask for anything more!

How we met!

Okay, so I decided to start blogging. But I really have no idea what i am doing so we'll see how it turns out!
Kevin and I just got married on August 13, so it has been just over two months that we have been enjoying the bliss of marriage.  Just a little background on the two of us, initially we met about a year ago but were only introduced at that time.  Because he was good friends with my roommate I would occasionally see him around my apartment but we didn't start really hanging out until about January or even February.  Shortly after we started hanging out he told me once to "enter his bosom"  and I was like absolutely not! this guy is so weird, who says that?! I told my parents about it and about a week later my dad called me and told me to never date people that say enter my bosom because it's weird.  ha ha (don't worry my dad likes him now).  But after I got over his weird comment I began to notice what a great guy he was and as I began to see more of him around the apartment I started to develop a little crush.  By the time March came around we were both pretty interested but then Spring Break came and of course I was leaving to go to California with my roommates so Kevin would have to wait for a few days.

On the second day in California he texted me and told me that he didn't know if I felt the same way but he missed me.  So of course like any other girl with a crush I got a huge smile on my face so excited that he was missing me.  Another day while we were there he called me and we talked for over an hour.  Which is when he asked me on the first date, for the day I got back from California!  I was SO excited! So on Friday we got home in the morning and I went to work for the day he had told me he would pick me up from work and take me shooting... well that day he had also been at work but had told me that he had hurt his ribs and thought that maybe he had even broken one. he had asked me to maybe look at it later and i told him that I didn't really like to touch people so maybe he should have his mom do it. He wasn't too happy to hear that from me, so we sort of got off to a rough start. i even told him we could do it another night. ut oh. but we went shooting which was very fun, and not the typical date i was used to.  After that we went to Olive Garden and then over to his house to watch a movie.  then... the first kiss came! i was a little shocked because he told me he'd never kissed on the first date but still SO ecstatic! Two weeks later my family came out and he had asked if he could meet my family and at first i told him flat out no. i had never introduced anyone to my family and after two weeks of dating I felt like it was a little soon but after a little convincing from both Kevin and my family I decided it would be okay and it turned out to be great.  that next weekend was conference and I had tickets so I decided to invite Kevin and on the drive to salt lake was the first time I thought that I could marry him. i know only like three weeks after we started dating. CRAZY! that same weekend I met his whole family except for his older brother and his family but it was fun and a little crazy. but they are great.  And really, the rest is history, 3 months of dating and we were engaged! okay, it was really two but 3 sounds a little bit better ha ha
