Finding out the big news!

I keep meaning to update the blog especially about my Pregnancy! But I have zero pictures and more than half the fun of blogs are seeing pictures but I decided that i need to just do it before it get to be too late and I forget about half the things i want to blog about and pictures will just have to come after they are taken.

First and foremost.  I am pregnant! My due date is May 4th and we are having a baby BOY and could not be more excited!  We had decided to grow our little family when Kevin first got his new job.  Originally the plan was to move to Elko for a year and give Kevin the chance to get into Dental school and then leave on our next journey but it's starting to look more and more like this is where we'll end up.  We have loved elko and my husband has loved his job.  Funny how things work out! Anyway we figured that a year out of school with a good job and good benefits would be the perfect time to have a baby!

I was so nervous, pretty much all ive ever wanted is to be a mom and i was most scared that we would try and try and try to have kids and it wouldn't happen or it would take forever and that scared me. a lot.  Thankfully we had zero trouble and I got pregnant right away.  I do know how much of a blessing that is and I am so grateful for that, I can't imagine the struggle that couples and families go through who desire nothing else but to have a family and just cant.

In late August I had my period, or so i thought.  It was just spotting and i thought it was a little unusual that it was so light but figured I wasn't pregnant and I didn't want to get my hopes up. But I read in one of my pregnancy books that it is very common so I convinced Kevin that we needed to go get a pregnancy test. Unfortunately we decided to go to walmart which is always the busiest place in elko plus we had to return something and customer service took FOREVER! {I was slightly anxious}. I read the directions for the test in the car and when we finally got home I peed on the stick.  I knew that waiting for those three minutes would feel like forever and I was so scared that it would tell me I wasn't pregnant Kevin had the video camera out and ready to read the big news and surprisingly it only took a few seconds before that magical word popped up on the little window! I just started to laugh and then started to cry I was so excited and couldn't believe what was happening! We were just so thrilled by the good news.

Immediately afterwards we called our families to share the good news and they were all very excited for us as well.  At the time I had just started a new semester of school after deciding that I was going to go back and try to at least get my Associates degree while we were in Elko.  Little did I know that it wouldn't last long.

Since I have taken forever to update on this exciting event I think I'll break it up into different posts so that its not so daunting and easier for me to find something if I want to look back someday.  So until next post!

Happenings

Well since the last time I updated was in the beginning of November here is what we have been up to! My brother got married on November 19th to a cute girl named Kina, we love her!

Since they got married the week before Thanksgiving Kevin just decided to take the next week off too and we stayed in Utah.  Kevin got to go hunting and I got to spend some time with old friends, and do a little shopping! Kevin and his dad had tons of success hunting which was so fun for him and he loved it!
{Sad, I know}

We had a fun Thanksgiving with Kevin's family and then came back to elko for a few more weeks before we left for almost half of December and through the new year.  We decided to have our own Thanksgiving dinner once we got back to enjoy the leftovers that come with the wonderful holiday.  I was super nervous about the turkey turning out since i had never done one but it turned out great and we had some friends over and ate some yummy food!

Before we left we decided we would do our own Christmas for each other so we wouldn't have to pack everything on our flight. I had no idea what Kevin was getting me even though i tried so hard to get him to give me some sort of hint but he's such a good liar! Anyway I was completely surprised when i opened one of my gifts to find a ticket to the show WICKED! Kevin has seen it before and has always said he wanted to take me but theyre coming to salt lake this summer and we're going! Im very excited! The other thing he got me was the diaper bag i wanted! He definitely spoiled me this year.  What did Kevin get? Tools and clothes from me.  Exciting for him!

The next morning we drove to Utah and stayed the night at Kevin's grandparents house so that we could be closer to the airport.  Our flight ended up being delayed but only for an hour so it wasn't too bad and we finally made it to snowy Colorado.  It was so much fun being with my family for Christmas. Kevin had the rest of the year off of work so after Denver we flew into Salt lake and stayed in Logan with Kevin's family through New years, It was fun to have everyone there together again!

We had tons of fun this Holiday season and feel so lucky and blessed to have the friends and family that we do. It is so nice that we live close enough to be able to come visit as often as we do.  After two weeks of being gone though it was nice to be back home and settle back into our quiet lives.  Only a few more months before there's another addition to our family and we couldn't be more excited!! {I'll update more on our little guy in another post}

pumpkins

Better late than never... While Kevin was growing up they carved pumpkins every year and did the big time like printed out patterns and such, which I didn't even know existed until last year but they're way fun.  So when halloween came around this year no way was Kevin going to let me get out of carving pumkins so I told him I would do it as long as he gutted mine for me {the thought of all that nastiness just makes me want to throw up}

We had our friend Jake and Baylee over for pizza and pumpkins and has lots of fun!

In order from left to right, Kevin, Jake, Me, Baylee.

They all did super intense pictures that turned out super cool and I did like the kids pattern and was done in like five minutes but at least I carved one, right?

Jake and Baylee with their pumkins.

Kev gutting my pumkin! Isn't he so hot, I'm a lucky girl!

One!

This last weekend Kevin and I celebrated our one year anniversary! I can't believe a year has gone by so quickly.  It has been such a fun year and I can't believe how much has changed just a few short months ago!  Kevin is my best friend and I love being married to him, we have so much fun together and I really am so lucky that he picked me! For our anniversary we drove to Reno to stay and SHOP! We had to speak in church on Sunday so we came home on Saturday night and we had saved our cake top so we got that out had some of that which was delicious and watched a movie. Here are a few pictures from the weekend!

pictures!

I haven't posted for a while but I thought I would update with a few pictures.  So far we have liked Elko, but we've been back to logan almost every weekend since we moved so I guess we can't really say it's starting to feel like home yet.  Kevin likes his job so far! and i'm sort of liking school... as much as you can like school, right? and that's pretty much the update i have for now... I know, boring!

Saying goodbye to our apartment in Logan!

And one weekend when we were in Logan Karen and I were out running errands while the boys went on a four wheeler ride, I guess they found a little mud hole and flipped one fo the four wheelers and got all muddy! It seems like they had a great time!

Goodbye and Hello

we moved! like I said a few posts ago Kevin got a job in Elko NV so we packed up our apartment and took off on Thursday!  two weeks before we moved we came to Elko to look for places to live, the housing market here is ridiculous and we spend six days here and didn't find a thing! we went to every single apartment complex and if they weren't low income they were completely booked for at least 3 months!!! We thought seriously about buying a house but then decided against it and put our names on a couple of waiting lists and even paid a deposit to be moved up on a list!  Kevin's company offered 30 days of housing for when we first moved so we figured we would take that since we couldn't find anything else but were kind of dreading moving everything into storage just to move it again when we found our own place.  We moved on Thursday and on Wednesday I got a call saying that an apartment had opened up! I couldn't even believe it so we took it right away!  The only bad thing is that it is upstairs so hauling everything up two flights of stairs was not very fun but we made it work and are almost completely moved in minus a few pictures that need to be hung up so we couldn't be more excited to have an apartment to call home, it is definitely a tender mercy that we can call somewhere home!

While we've been super busy unpacking the house Kevin started work yesterday this week he has to do refresher trainings which are a little boring since he did all of them last year and sitting in a room for ten hours a day watching slide show presentations isn't exactly ideal but he likes the people he's met so far and seems to be enjoying himself minus the 4:15 am bus ride that he has to make!

Elko will definitely be an adjustment and we will miss Logan a ton but I'm sure in no time we'll really enjoy it.  We're really grateful to have a good job just after graduation and we're excited to start a new adventure with just the two of us!  I'll try to keep you updated but as of now we don't have Internet so I'm pretty cut off from the world but maybe that will change soon!

Stef In the Casino

This is Kevin this time. I'm not much of a blogger myself, but since it was Stefani's birthday and she didn't post anything about it, I figured that I would AT LEAST say that she has finally, after all these years, been exposed the wonders of a slot machine! She was winning left and right. By the time we left the casino she knew how to make all the right bets. We didn't even get carded! :) It was a fun little outting for us in good old Elko, Nevada.
